Q&A
Therapy Options:
Have you ever thought to yourself, "man, this guy needs therapy"? Well the good aliens aboard the SS Radiance would love to help.
For those who crave a more physical outlet, Scarlet's Tai Chi and ‘Tai Chi’ (fight classes) might hit the spot - particularly for anyone who's feeling vulnerable, bullied, or helpless.
Perhaps you're in need of a bit of psychoanalysis, or wanting to learn a new yoga pose? Kaiisteron, illustrious leader of this whole operation, has got you.
Maybe words aren't your thing. Maybe something more tactile is the way to go. Luckily Tsang [Sanguinis], master art therapist, is on board! --Do mind the glitter.
Or maybe you'd prefer some talk therapy with a kind-hearted empath. When it's too hard to put thoughts into words, Min’a [Mina Harker] has a knack for understanding.
Investigations in Woodhurst:
Are you a suspicious character, looking to get sprung? Well these astute investigators are on the hunt.
Late at night, skulking in the shadows. Is that a masked vigilante with a penchant for adopting orphans, or just Curze doggedly hunting for aliens?
In broad daylight, judging anyone making a poor attempt at fitting in - it's Rakia! He can hide the mouth on his stomach, but can't quite hide his diet of rocks. There's a joke here to be made, something about glass houses?
Or perhaps you're strange enough to have caught the eye of Festival - who isn't looking specifically for an alien. Just how weird is your coffee order?
She's making a list, she's checking it twice -- she won't accept her research being put on ice! Dr. Elise Lanchester [The Bride] is certain there are aliens about, if only she had some evidence to prove it.
Suspicious Characters:
It's hard fitting in to the modern Earthen world. Whether it's because they're from a different time or a different planet entirely, none of these people are going to be winning prizes for Being Normal any time soon.
Good manners never go out of fashion, but in the modern age are sadly rare. Fortunately for the people of Woodhurst, Jonathan sets a good example.
Speaking of vampires - she might not be one of Woodhurst's usual punk teens, but Cassandra's unique appearance may raise some questions.
Looking for new and improved hiding spots, and experiencing merchandise for the first time ever, is SecUnit. Hiding might work better if not for the drones flying about...
Experiencing the highs and lows of high school (--mostly the lows), Michiko [Hikaru Aosora] is having a rough time.
But at some point, that all seems to start turning around. (Just who is this person, and what have they done with Michiko?!)
Being long-time residents of Woodhurst doesn't exclude certain people from being bizarre. Shadow the prickly teen and Randy [Randolph Carter] the eccentric old man have a reputation to uphold as the town's resident alien enthusiasts. One of them is more serious about it than the other.
On Board the Radiance:
Whether you're an alien or a human, you're here now -- better make the most of it! Or, perhaps, band together to hatch a plot?
Not every human is unhappy to be here. Experiencing some of the physical support is Viktor, living physical proof of the Wellbeing Group's commitment to their cause.
Skeptical of the spa but in dire need of a break: it's Pòhuài Wáng [Wreck], international idol. Hey, has anyone seen his phone--?
Or you might run into Siobhan - armed and ready, on the hunt for her friend. (Where the heck is the security on this ship?)
Not an alien himself, but enjoying the amenities, Nara’a is trying his damnedest to explore.
Not looking to escape, but trying to warn someone is Charles - who desperately needs to get the message out to warn his alien impersonator to stay away from his home.
And now, a few questions that have come up! Thank you for bringing these questions to us, we’ll be working them into the FAQs and Story Info posts moving forward.
Q&A
What exactly is an Editor?
An Editor is every character who is a part of the Library. Regardless of whether your character is an Actor or a Reader in each Story, they are always an Editor.
What exactly is a Reader, and what is their purpose?
A Reader is your character, exactly as you’ve apped them, visiting the world of the Story. A Reader has all of their memories of their time in the Library, and is a complete stranger to the world the Story takes place in. They do not have any background knowledge (unless they have relevant skills, or have pieced together something from the Recommended Readings), and will not be familiar to Actors or NPCs in the Story.
The Reader’s purpose is to explore the Story, and determine what they want to do in it. In this case - does your Reader want to understand why the aliens are here? Do they want to deter the aliens, or encourage them? Do they want to learn from them? Do they want to stop the kidnappings, or do they want to find a way to get more humans on board?
What exactly is an Actor, and what is their purpose?
An Actor is an AU of your character into the world of the Story. While in the Story, your character believes they have always been there, and it is the only life they have ever known. They do not have their canon memories or any memories of the Library.
Unless disguised, Actors may be recognisable to Readers. This is, of course, up to player choice. How an Actor looks is at the player’s discretion. Story outlines may give some direction (eg: in the current Story, Actors must be either human or some sort of alien), but the rest is up to you!
Editors who are Actors in a Story will remember being an Actor once they return to the Library.
Can the Library network be accessed by Readers in the Story?
Not currently. If this is something that characters want to do, it is something they will need to work towards ICly.
Can characters take things out of the Story?
Generally, no. There will be skills later on that can be taken to allow this. In some Stories, there may be specific items that can be claimed with AC skill points - in the case of this Story, the 3 items that are up for grabs are the Alien Wellness Technology; the Home Base teleportation device; or the Personal Hologram Device. Each item requires 1 skill point to claim through AC. Items other than these cannot be taken out of this Story. If characters want to be able to haul home armloads of goodies, that’s a skill they’ll have to work toward!
