Clarifications, Changes, and New Mods!!
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for your feedback. We are really hoping to incorporate it all into the game to make it more enjoyable for everyone.
And yes, it is ‘we’ again, not just Bookie using it in the royal way! Thank you very much for our volunteers, and welcome Rune, Talia, and Lark to the mod team! Lark will be helping primarily with lists, AC, and apps, while Rune and Talia are onboard to help with Stories. (Elle is still a mod, she is just on hiatus at the moment!)
With all that said, here’s some updates and some clarifications:
Story Length: Changing from 4 to 3 logs seems popular, so let’s give it a try! We can call them Acts now, see, it’s totally thematic.
Timeline: There has been some confusion as to what the IC timeline is for Stories. While in the Library, you can assume that it’s 1-to-1, but for Stories we have some measures in mind to make the timeline clearer. Please let us know how well they work!
Activity Check: At this time, we will not be changing the AC requirements. However, this is a reminder that if you don’t have 10 comments in a single thread, you can link as many threads as you want with a total of 15 comments. Additionally, if you can’t make AC, let us know! Our goal is to be understanding and to help out players if they need it, and if you find you just don’t have anything you can retroactively hiatus.
Star Actor Plotting: More transparency regarding what the Star Actor has been up to has been asked for, and we agree! Our Star Actors were linked to a post with their initial information, and we would like to use this to get updates from our Actors. Prior to each new log, we’d like a comment from each Star Actor to let us know what they’ve been up to and what their plans are, and in return the mods can supply any relevant information they would have for the next.
We will also have a public facing version of this on the plot posts- Star Actors are expected to post there with what they have done, and at least some idea of what they will be doing. (Some vagueness allowed for plot funness!)
Using Skills/Identifying Actors: This is just a general reminder to always check with other players before using skills/making plots/identifying Actors that involve them. We believe that the trouble from this so far has mostly been excitement and some people being less accustomed to a game of this size. In a group setting, it is not ‘yes and,’ it needs to be more ‘hey I had this idea, can we’. This is not to single out any one in particular, there have been a few instances of this. We just want everyone to be mindful of everyone that we’re playing with, and to keep them in mind while plotting. If this continues to be an issue, we will have to come down harder on it.
Made up Story Skills: One of the pitches in skills was that people could make up their own skills as they fit into the Story to take; we are revising this slightly. The original intent was for more things someone might learn through a Story in a more mundane way- acting because they were in a theater troupe, cooking because they got a job at a bar, etc. We did not intend for this to be a skill to make up magic with. One such request was accepted, and that was a mistake on our part as we weren’t quite sure how to handle that, but in future any skills from a Story that were not mod approved and are magical or powerful in nature will not be accepted.
HOWEVER, if you are a Star Actor, we’re going to offer a potential caveat: if you don’t like your Star Actor skill, you can make another one in the same spirit of it. If that skill is approved by the mods, that will become your new Star Actor skill. You cannot keep the previous one. There can only be one special skill per Star Actor. This is not retroactive, but can be an option going forward.
That’s all we have for right now; more may come as we work through more changes. Thank you all again for your feedback and happy RPing!
